Westport Garden and Retail Center
The Westport retail center is comprised of greenhouses, outdoor
formal display gardens and a retail shop. The selections of herbs includes more than 400 varieties—up to 15 types of basil, 18 types of sage, 19 thymes, and hard-to-find varieties
such as scented geraniums, stinging nettle, and angelica. In addition, Gilbertie’s offers one of the largest selections of decorative herbal
topiaries of rosemary and myrtle, delicately shaped into spheres, circles and hearts. Seasonal vegetables and flowering plants can also be found at Gilbertie’s.
The greenhouse and gardens are the setting for numerous workshops, seminars, and luncheons held on Saturdays. Class topics include the basics of herb and
vegetable gardening; creating herbal wreaths and decorations; herb gardening in small spaces; and creating natural oils and vinegars. Workshops and events
are often lead by guest lecturers, chefs, authors and experts from around the country.
The Retail Shop
Reminiscent of a country store, the retail shop features
Gilbertie’s line of home fragrances including potpourris, natural fragrance refresher oils, candles, sachets and other scented items for the home. One-of-a-kind items such as
ceramic herb garden markers, herbal gifts, books and cards can also be found here. There are scores of handmade decorative wreathes and
swags, and buckets brimming with natural dried ingredients for those who like to make their own potpourri.
